Independence Day is a US federal holiday that commemorates the Declaration of Independence which was ratified on July 4th, 1776. This established the United States of America as an independent country, making the colonies separate from Great Britain. Many celebrate this holiday with family reunions, fireworks, barbecues, parades, picnics, and so much more! It is a day of remembrance of our independence and union as a country.
