Tips for De-stressing

Stress is something we all experience, whether it is because of our work, school, finances, or relationships. It is very common to feel frustrated, upset, or irritated when we are experiencing stressful situations. Here are a few tips for de-stressing when we are feeling this way: 1. Meditate. Shift your attention to a period of peace and quiet if you are feeling stressed. Take a moment to feel calm and a sense of balance. This will be beneficial to your emotional well-being. You can practice meditating anywhere at any time, even just for a few minutes. 2. Turn to your support system. Whether you turn to your family or friends, they can help distract you, provide support, or help with what is causing you stress. 3. Get enough sleep. Stress affects our sleep more than we like to think. You may have trouble falling asleep, you may wake up numerous times throughout the night, or you may not be able to get out of bed. Try to make sure you are getting the quality and amount of sleep that you need so that your brain and body have time to recharge! 4. Seek counseling. If you are experiencing stressful situations, it is okay to ask for help. If you are feeling overwhelmed, worried, or you just feel like the stress is too much, try out counseling. Professional counselors can help you to identify what is causing your stress, how to manage your stress, and you can learn new coping skills for the future.
