Types of Counseling Services

This week, we thought it would be a good time to remind our readers about the different types of counseling services we offer. Each service supports different needs, so it is imperative to learn what each service has to offer and choose which would best meet your personal needs. At Old City Counseling, we offer 2 different services: Individual Counseling and Group Counseling. We also have 3 more services coming soon: Psychiatric Services, Psychological Testing, and Hypnosis!

Now, let’s go a little more in depth about our current services!

Individual Counseling:

Individual counseling, also referred to as psychotherapy, is a form of talk therapy in which patients meet with a trained mental health clinician one-on-one to discuss current challenges. The therapist provides a non-judgmental environment in which the patient can engage in exploration and problem-solving. Ability to verbalize feelings and discuss symptomology as well as willingness to work towards self-expressed goals typically lead to successful therapy outcomes. Individual counseling goals include symptom alleviation and improved overall functioning.

Group Counseling:

Group counseling is a powerful treatment modality in which several individuals simultaneously participate in a therapy session on a predetermined topic. Group counseling is a cost-effective intervention with a myriad of healing benefits. This method promotes healthy coping and social skills by allowing members to share their experience while also providing encouragement and feedback to other members.
